LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The #17 Pepperdine men's tennis team had its hopes of advancing to the ITA Indoor National Championships dashed with a 4-0 loss at #4 UCLA on Sunday.

Pepperdine (2-1) defeated #37 South Florida on Saturday to advance to the second round of the ITA Kickoff Weekend, but the Bruins (2-0) won the four-team event at the Los Angeles Tennis Center with today's victory and will move on to nationals.

The #2 team of sophomore Alex Llompart (Carolina, Puerto Rico) and freshman Finn Tearney (Wellington, New Zealand) was victorious by the score of 8-6 to even up doubles play, but the Bruins ended up winning at the #1 position by a score of 8-6 to earn the first point of the match.

UCLA won the first two singles matches in straight sets and clinched the victory with a three-set win at #1 singles. The remaining three singles matches were stopped.

The Waves next head to the Midwest to take on Ohio State (Friday, Feb. 5) and Michigan (Saturday, Feb. 6).
