MALIBU, Calif. - Pepperdine shot a season-best 52.4 percent from the floor as five of its players scored in double figures during a convincing 80-52 victory over Cal State Fullerton Saturday afternoon at Firestone Fieldhouse.

Junior guard Lauren Bell (San Bruno, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep) made 4-of-6 3-point shots to lead all players with 14 points. Her classmate Jazmine Jackson (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep) totaled 13 points, while Shay Cooney-Williams (Frisco, Texas/Frisco HS), Robie Mayberry (San Leandro, Calif./Bishop O'Dowd) and Alex Jarrell (Shelbyville, Tenn./Shelbyville HS) all chipped in 11. Jarrell also led all Waves with six rebounds.

The win improved Pepperdine's record to 6-5. Cal State Fullerton has lost six of its last seven to drop to 4-7.

"I'm proud of our kids' efforts, they really stepped up and were consistent throughout the game" head coach Julie Rousseau said. "We had to get back to playing our style of basketball, which is allowing the defense to create our offense. We accomplished that goal, plus we didn't foul as much and we won most of the boards. We've also been working hard on bringing a more balanced attack to the court, and I commend our guards for getting the ball to our post players who worked extremely hard out there today."

Pepperdine won the rebounding war, 38-32, and used 11 offensive boards to help create 23 second-chance points. The Waves also outscored Fullerton in the paint, 36-32, and converted 17 Titan turnovers into 29 points.

Pepperdine, which led the game from start to finish and by as many as 31 points, received some of its best 3-point shooting of the year as it connected on 9-of-17 attempts for a season-high 52.9 percent success rate. Additionally, the Waves made all five of their free-throw attempts.

Cal State Fullerton was held to .371 shooting from the floor (23-62) and made just two of its 16 3-point attempts. Jenna Breite, however, was a force for the Titans and earned a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Pepperdine returns to action Monday for a 1 p.m. home game vs. Cal Poly.
