Putnam Earns PING All-American Honor

MALIBU, Calif. Â Sophomore Andrew Putnam of the Pepperdine men’s golf team has been named to the PING All-American honorable mention squad, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced today.

Putnam (University Place, Wash./Life Christian Academy) also earned PING All-American honorable mention honors last year as a freshman. He was also put on the PING All-West Region second team for the second straight year. Putnam was earlier named the 2009 West Coast Conference Player of the Year and is a two-time All-WCC first team honoree.

He led the Waves with a 72.74 stroke average in 2008-09, which included seven top finishes and 13 top 20 results. In fact, he finished in the top 20 in each of his first 13 tournaments, a streak that ended at the NCAA South Central Regional. His best finish was second place at the USC Intercollegiate with an 8-under 205. He also led Pepperdine with a total of 16 subpar rounds.

He ended the season ranked #51 in the Golfweek/Sagarin index and #93 by Golfstat.
