The Waves followed up their first-round 297 with a 299 today at the par-72 PGA West Stadium Course. The third and final round is on Tuesday morning.
Putnam (University Place, Wash./Life Christian Academy) has an even-par 144 (71-73) after firing a 1-over 73 today. He had three birdies during his round.
Senior Carl Smith (Laguna Beach, Calif./Santa Margarita HS) shot his second consecutive 75, moving him up a few spots and into a tie for 38th place at 150. Sophomore Josh Anderson (Temecula, Calif./Murrieta Valley HS) improved by a couple of strokes and moved up to a tie for 46th place at 152 (77-75).
Three Waves are tied for 51st place at 153: senior Shane Mason (San Diego, Calif./St. Augustine HS), redshirt freshman Johnny MacArthur (Newhall, Calif./Hart HS) and senior Olin Browne (Tequesta, Fla./Benjamin School). Mason went 77-76, MacArthur went 74-79 and Browne went 75-78. Browne is playing as an individual.
Anderson had three birdies, Mason and MacArthur both had two and Smith and Browne each had one during their rounds today.
