MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women’s basketball team traded a rigorous 2007 preseason travel schedule for a 2008 preseason that will see the Waves play at home 10 times.
The Waves open their season with a home exhibition against Westmont on Halloween (Oct. 31), at 7 p.m. That contest will be followed by two more home games including another exhibition with Cal State Los Angeles and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
The team plays its first away game at UCLA on Nov.18, followed by Northern Arizona the following Saturday (Nov. 22). Monday (Nov. 24), the Waves host a competitive USC team at Firestone Fieldhouse.
Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 28-29), Pepperdine will host its annual Timeout 4 HIV/AIDS Tournament. Last year’s tournament was cancelled on the second day due to the Malibu wildfires.
December begins with the Waves hosting Washington on Dec. 3, then traveling to Fullerton (Dec. 12) and returning two days later to host UC Santa Barbara for their first home day game of the season (Dec. 14). The last away game of the year will be against Cal State Bakersfield (Dec. 18), with the 2008 year ending at home with a game against San Jose State (Dec. 21) and Kansas (Dec. 23).
Pepperdine completes its preseason with a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii for the Hawaii Tournament on Jan. 2-3.
