d?Arnaud Drafted in Fourth Round by Pittsburgh Pirates

d’Arnaud (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) was taken with the second pick of the fourth round, #114 overall. d’Arnaud hit .314 with 11 home runs, 17 doubles, 50 RBI, 52 runs scored and 10 stolen bases for the Waves in 2008, and finished the year on a torrid pace at the NCAA Regionals. In four contests at the Stanford Regional, d’Arnaud hit .429 (6-for-14) with three home runs and five RBI and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
“It’s been an exciting day and it’s an amazing feeling,” d’Arnaud said. “I’ve worked all my life to get here, so this is a big day in baseball career. I’m going to work my butt off to get to the big leagues and represent Pepperdine well.”
An All-WCC Honorable Mention selection in 2008, this is the second time d’Arnaud has been drafted, after being selected in the 44th round of the 2005 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
