Waves Fall 13-1 to Stanford at NCAA Regionals

Pepperdine (38-20) and Stanford (36-22-2) will now face off on Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. with the winner of that game advancing to the Super Regionals. Stanford advanced to face the Waves after defeating UC Davis 8-4 on Sunday afternoon.
The Cardinal took control of the game from the outset, as Jason Castro launched a three-run homer in the bottom of the first and the Cardinal added another run on a sac fly to make it a 4-0 contest after just one inning.
Stanford tacked on another run in the second inning on a solo homer from Toby Gerhart, extending the Stanford lead to 5-0.
The Cardinal would blow the game open in the fourth inning, scoring six runs to push the lead to 11-0.
Pepperdine would get on the board in the sixth inning on a solo homer from Matt Aidem (
Stanford added a pair of runs in the seventh to make the score 13-1, and the teams went scoreless the last two frames, making the final score 13-1.

Aidem led the Waves with a 2-for-4 effort, while four other Waves notched one hit apiece. Gerhart led the Cardinal with a 4-for-5 performance with three runs scored.
Pepperdine and Stanford will now face off on Monday, Jun. 2 at 1 p.m. at Klein Field for the right to advance to the Super Regionals.
