Men's Water Polo Ranked No. 2 in Nation

WAVES RANKED NO. 2 IN THE NATION

BRIDGEPORT, Penn. Â The Pepperdine men’s water polo team finished the 2008 regular season ranked No. 2 in the nation according to Collegiate Water Polo Association Top 20 polls released by the CWPA office on Wednesday.

The poll saw dramatic changes in the Top 10 as Pepperdine University climbed to second following a 2-1 record, including a 3-2 loss to USC in the title game, at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Championship over the weekend.  Stanford University, which fell to Pepperdine 8-7 in overtime and was ranked second last week, slipped back to third, while the University of California-Los Angeles and Loyola Marymount University climbed to fourth and fifth, respectively. 

The Waves finished second to No. 1 USC in the MPSF finals after a heartbreak 3-2 loss. USC received an automatic bid to the NCAA Final Four tournament. Stanford got the at-large bid based on a vote by a NCAA committee.
