MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine water polo team was held at bay Sunday by USC on the Waves' senior day as the Trojans remained undefeated on the season with a 15-4 victory at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu, Calif.
Pepperdine (12-17, 1-6 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) was led by freshman Brett Auer (Newport Beach, Calif.) who scored twice, Dorian Beaney (Lake Forest, Calif.) and JP MacDonell (Redwood City, Calif.) accounted for the other two Waves' goals on the day.
USC (22-0, 7-0 MPSF) led 3-0 at the end of the first and 10-0 at the half before Beaney got the home team on the board at the 7:33 mark of the fourth period.
The Waves will wrap up the regular season next week when they travel to UC Santa Barbara for the final conference game of the season. Pepperdine must win to have a chance at qualifying for the league's postseason tournament the following weekend.
