Malibu, Calif. - Pepperdine made it two-for-two Sunday afternoon at the Pepperdine Mini with an 11-8 victory over the Bucknell Bison in the Waves' second game of the afternoon at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool.
Jason Langten (Irvine, Calif.) scored three times in the fourth period and Brett Auer (Newport Beach, Calif.) notched his first hat trick of the season for the Waves (7-9). Freshman JP MacDonell added two goals, while Gaston Stanford (Newport Beach, Calif.) turned away 11 in the cage.
Mark Masterson scored four times for Bucknell and Gabriel Heiber added two scores.
Bucknell and Pepperdine played to a 4-4 tie through the first two quarters and after a Brian Whitlock (Los Altos, Calif.) goal in the third was answered by Masterson, the game headed into the final eight minutes locked at 5-all.
The Waves' offense opened up in the fourth period as Pepperdine scored three goals on its first three possessions, including a Langten 6-on-5 and penalty goal. Following a Jamie Wolff (New Canaan, Conn.) man-advantage score, the Waves led by a 10-6 margin on their way to a 2-0 record for the day.
