No. 3 UCLA Awaits No. 5 Pepperdine Saturday

MALIBU, Calif. - For the first time this season, the Pepperdine water polo team has a three-game losing streak after falling to then No. 3 Stanford, No. 2 Cal and No. 1 USC in its last three contests. This weekend the No. 5 Waves will head to No. 3 UCLA as the team continues Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) play.
Pepperdine (15-8, 1-4 MPSF) is led in scoring by senior Jesse Smith who has found the back of the net 47 times this season. A trio of sophomores are atop the Wave's scoring leaders as Grant Miller's 34 goals rank second on the team, Adam Hewko's 33 is third and Matt Digges checks in at fourth with 25. In the cage, senior Ben Tait has recorded 164 saves.
The Waves will close out the 2005 regular season at home with a pair of games next weekend. On Sat., Nov. 19, Pepperdine will host Pacific at noon then on Sunday, the Waves will host Long Beach State at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool.
