Kai Felton Named Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

Kai Felton, who served as a volunteer assistant at Cal Poly Pomona during the 2002-03 season, was added to the coaching staff of the Pepperdine women's basketball team, head coach Mark Trakh announced on Wednesday.

Originally a resident of Pasadena, California, Felton served multiple roles on head coach Paul Thomas' staff at Cal Poly Pomona. She was directly involved in recruiting, scouting, film editing and production, guard and post player development and assisting in practice planning and implementation.

"We are excited to add Kai to our coaching staff," Trakh said. "She is a young coach who brings enthusiasm and energy to the program and enjoyed success at the collegiate level as a player.

"I look forward to working with Kai and believe our players will feed off her intensity and she will be positive addition to our coaching staff," Trakh added.

During her lone season at Cal Poly Pomona, the Broncos posted a 13-14 overall record, including an 11-11 mark in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).

Prior to serving as a volunteer assistant at Cal Poly Pomona, Felton spent two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts, where she was in charge of recruiting as well as other administrative duties.

During her two seasons at Springfield, the Pride compiled an overall record of 59-9 (.868) and made two NCAA Division III postseason appearances, including a trip to the "Sweet 16" in 2001-02.

While at Springfield, Felton received a master's in physical education - athletic administration in 2002.

Felton enjoyed an illustrious playing career at Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Virginia. During her four seasons, Felton set nine school records, including most career three-pointers (216), most three-pointers in a season (66) and most career assists (325). She finished her career ranked No. 3 on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,147 points.

Felton graduated with a bachelor's degree in biology from Randolph-Macon Woman's College in 2000.

She attended La Canada High in La Canada - Flintridge, California, where she was named first team all-district and tabbed team "Most Valuable Player" as a senior. She set single-game, single-season and career marks for three-point shooting.

Felton is single and currently resides in Venice, California.
