Sport Responsibilities: Baseball
Preston Johnson joined Pepperdine Athletics in August of 2023 as an assistant athletic trainer, primarily working with the baseball program.
Johnson is a highly motivated and experienced Athletic Trainer with a strong clinical background and a passion for injury prevention, rehabilitation, and athlete performance. He earned his Master of Science in Athletic Training from California State University, Long Beach, where he completed diverse clinical rotations across NCAA Division I, community college, and high school athletics.
His clinical training includes rotations at top-tier programs such as UCLA Football, CSULB Baseball and Water Polo, Mt. San Antonio College, and St. John Bosco High School, along with unique experience working with tactical athletes through the Los Angeles Fire Department. Johnson further expanded his expertise through a professional internship with the New York Jets, supporting the care of elite-level athletes.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Carroll College in Helena, Montana, where he played collegiate football and conducted research on athlete performance and recovery. His background as a student-athlete gives him a unique, firsthand perspective on the demands and challenges faced by athletes at all levels of competition.
Specializing in manual therapy techniques—including IASTM, soft tissue mobilization, and therapeutic exercise programming—Preston is committed to evidence-based, athlete-centered care. He brings a well-rounded approach to injury prevention, rehabilitation, and return-to-play strategies, making him a trusted and valuable member of the Pepperdine Sports Medicine team.
