Nick Kurtz joined Pepperdine Athletics in the spring of 2022 and he was promoted to Assistant AD for Facilities, Events & Capital Projects in August 2025.

He had spent the previous ten years as an actor, spokesman and writer in Los Angeles. His opinion column appears in his hometown Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper, The Storm Lake Times-Pilot.

Kurtz is originally from the rural town of Storm Lake, Iowa. A graduate of the University of Iowa, he began working in athletic facilities and events there while pursuing a degree in theater and acting.

Kurtz's wife, Amanda, is a Senior Associate Athletic Director and the Senior Woman Administrator at Pepperdine. Together they have two children, Gabriel and Elizabeth.
