Heidi Coleman joined Pepperdine Athletics in March 2026 as an Athletics Counselor.
In her role, she provides individual sports psychology and therapy services to student-athletes, leads mental performance and therapeutic group sessions, and coordinates mental health operations between the Department of Athletics and the University Counseling Center. She also provides crisis support services for the broader campus community.
Coleman brings more than two decades of experience spanning mental health counseling, athletic coaching, leadership and sports administration.Â
Before joining Pepperdine, she worked as a mental health counselor for Metcalfe County Schools while also serving as the head girls' basketball coach and boys' and girls' tennis coach. Her coaching accomplishments include Basketball Coach of the Year (2025), Tennis Coach of the Year (2024), four consecutive district championships in basketball and the best overall basketball coaching record in school history.
Previously, Coleman served as a clinical program director and clinical therapist at Rivendell Behavioral Health Hospital, overseeing evidence-based treatment programs and leading both clinical and direct care service teams.Â
Earlier in her career, she held sales and leadership positions with the Charlotte Bobcats, Utah Jazz, NBA, ISP Sports (Georgia Tech) and Nike.
Coleman is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor (LPCC-S) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) in Kentucky. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in California.
A former standout student-athlete at Wake Forest University, Coleman was a four-year starter and three-year captain on the women's basketball team, earning two Third Team All-ACC honors and two All-ACC Academic Team selections.
Coleman earned a bachelor's degree in health and exercise science from Wake Forest University in 1999 and a master's degree in counseling: human services and development from Lindsey Wilson College in 2017. She also earned her Certification in Chemical Dependency Counseling from Union College (Ky.) in 2014.
