Erin Bean joined Pepperdine Athletics in March 2025 as Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Operations.
In her role, Bean oversees Pepperdine Athletics’ External Relations, including branding, marketing & communications, sponsorships, and ticket sales & service, in addition to serving as the sport administrator for the women's volleyball, women's golf and beach volleyball programs. She also serves as the liaison to Pepperdine’s Integrated Marketing and Communications team.
Bean brings a diverse skill set to the role, having served in multiple external spaces over her career, which included a start in athletics communications before a successful tenure leading marketing and fan engagement units. In addition, Bean has served as a sport program administrator over the course of her decorated career, including the last three seasons leading Baylor’s equestrian program.
Over the last four years at Baylor, Bean has ascended to Associate Athletics Director for Marketing/Fan Engagement, which has included oversight of the Bears’ social media strategy and content development operations, in addition to strategic marketing, fan and community engagement, and the Baylor Spirit and Traditions program. She arrived at Baylor in Jan. of 2021 as the Assistant AD for Marketing Strategy and quickly earned a promotion to Associate AD.
Under her direction, the Bears’ Marketing & Fan Engagement units excelled with an expanded social media presence, hosted noteworthy events such as opening the Paul & Alejandra Foster Pavilion, hosting ESPN's College Gameday and Big Noon Kickoff and Brittney Griner jersey retirement ceremonies. She also coordinated the 2021 NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship Parade.
Bean worked diligently to brand Baylor Athletics, resulting in improved ticket sales revenue for football, and men's and women's basketball. Her guidance helped the Bears receive the bronze honor for the category of "Digital Engagement" from the 2023 NACMA “Best of Awards”.
A former volleyball student-athlete, Bean has well over a decade, and at all levels, of collegiate athletics experience. She began her career at her alma mater, Juniata College, and has worked at Saint Leo University, South Florida, Tennessee Tech and the Northeast Conference.
She joined the Baylor staff after time as the Assistant AD for External Operations at Saint Leo, with oversight of communications, marketing, special events, community engagement, game environment, ticket operations, concessions, merchandise sales, corporate partnerships and the Lions Athletic Fund. She moved into that role in her second stint at Saint Leo, after previously serving as the Director of Athletics Communications.
After time as the Director of Athletics Communications at Saint Leo, Bean moved to Tampa as the Assistant Director of Communications at South Florida. She worked directly with USF’s women’s basketball, men’s soccer and football programs, giving her a diverse experience base in multiple external departments.
She is active throughout the industry as a member of Women Leaders in College Sports, National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and College Sports Information Directors of America. She has also volunteered at the 2014 and 2015 NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four and helped organize the Women Leaders in College Sports (formerly NACWAA) Convention in 2015.
A native of Clarion, Pa., Bean and her husband, Evan Halteman, have two dogs, Vera and Waylon.
