Chad Johnson, a former All-American runner at Kentucky, is in his second season working with Pepperdine's cross country and track teams in 2016-17.

Johnson was the head track coach at Duarte (Calif.) High School in 2015 and an assistant track coach at Citrus College in 2012. He served as the middle school track and field coach at Holy Family Catholic in South Pasadena from 2010-14. He's also worked as an assistant football coach at both La Canada and San Marino high schools.

Johnson, a 2004 graduate from Kentucky with a degree in graphic design and fine arts education, was a four-time All-American for the Wildcats. He still ranks among the school's all-time top 10 runners in the 800 meters, both indoor and outdoor. He qualified for the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 800 meters.
