A former cross country runner at Cal Poly and an experienced coach, Audrey Amara is in her second season working at Pepperdine as a volunteer assistant coach in 2015-16.
Amara was a volunteer cross country coach at Santa Monica College during the 2013 season and has held several other coaching positions at the high school level.
She was the track coach at Shalhevet High School in Beverly Hills, Calif., for the 2014 season; the cross country, track and swimming coach at The Spence School in New York from 2010-13; the cross country coach at Santee High School in Los Angeles in 2009; the long-distance running coach at Pioneer High School in Woodland, Calif., in 2008; and the cross country coach at Woodcreek (Calif.) High School in 2007.
She earned a bachelor's degree with a degree in journalism from Cal Poly in 2003. She also earned a California English Teaching Credential at Cal Poly in 2007 and received her master's degree in English from National University in 2011.
Amara, a native of Auburn, Calif., attended Placer High School and was a standout swimmer there.
