Introducing the Waves Exchange!

In a deal with INFLCR, the Pepperdine athletics department is pleased to announce the “Waves Exchange” as a facilitative tool to connect student-athletes and businesses for Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) opportunities.

“We are very excited to expand our partnership with INFLCR through the creation of the Waves Exchange,” Director of Athletics Dr. Steve Potts said. “This partnership will provide Pepperdine student-athletes with the best NIL tools and resources and allow our student-athletes to build and enhance their personal brands, market themselves and connect directly with businesses and sponsors.”

Through the department’s previously established contract with INFLCR’s content delivery tool, businesses and individuals can now register through the Waves Exchange and access a database including all Pepperdine student-athletes and reach out via the Exchange for NIL deals and negotiations.

The athletics compliance office will be notified throughout every step of the process, smoothing the overlap between NCAA bylaws and state/university branding and Name, Image and Likeness policies.

“This is going to be a great opportunity for all of our student-athletes to better engage in the NIL world,” Pepperdine Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Women’s Administrator Amanda Kurtz said. “The connection with businesses and resources provided will be an invaluable asset to our student-athletes experience and development while at Pepperdine.”

The Waves Exchange will also serve as the payment processing tool for these transactions, allowing the vending party to directly pay the selected student-athlete with no processing fees. The app will also create a 1099 form for each transaction so the student-athlete can efficiently report taxes accrued by these deals.

"We’re excited to continue our partnership with Pepperdine Athletics,” said INFLCR General Manager Sean Kelly. “Through the Waves Exchange, student-athletes will be empowered to navigate the evolving landscape of NIL opportunities by connecting directly with businesses and having access to the tools they need to build their personal brands."

INFLCR Local Exchange: How It Works

INFLCR provides a school-customized NIL exchange as an extension to their athletics website where the school can send any business, individual or collective seeking to bring NIL opportunities to its student-athletes. Once registered, businesses can search, communicate, pay and report on behalf of student-athletes they’re transacting with, streamlining the student-athletes compliance and tax reporting responsibilities in their existing INFLCR app experience.
