Cross Country's Crawford Earns WCC Cross Country Women's Runner of the Week Honors

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Pepperdine cross country senior Lizzy Crawford has been named the West Coast Conference (WCC) Women's Runner of the Week, the league announced today. She took first in the Waves Invitational women's 4K (13:17.2) to begin her season.
The Thornton, Colo. native paced the field of 43 for the entirety of the race, finishing over 24 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
The orange and blue ultimately swept the annual Waves Invitational, claiming the top finishers and top-scoring teams in both the men's 6K and women's 4K.
It is the second time Crawford has received this honor in her Pepperdine career, also taking home the award in her freshman campaign. She finished with a time of 21:07.2 in the UC Riverside women's 6K to earn WCC honors for the week of Sept. 19, 2023. Crawford's latest honor marks the fourth such award in the school's history. Previous winners are Megan LaCamera (Sept. 20, 2022) and Jonathan Flint of the men's squad (Sept. 12, 2023).
Pepperdine resumes the 2026 season Sept. 19 for the Riverside Invitational.

The Pepperdine cross country/track program has a rich history dating back to the 1950s with six total individual national championships to come through the program. As one of the original three programs sponsored by then George Pepperdine College in 1937, the Waves immediately began to make a mark on the track world stage with eight total Olympians and multiple regional champions throughout the program's history.
