Pepperdine Celebrates Opening of New Golf Clubhouse

MALIBU, Calif. –  Pepperdine University celebrated the opening of its new Golf Clubhouse today, an 8,000-square-foot facility that will serve as the new campus home for the University's men's and women's golf programs.
Located within Firestone Fieldhouse, the clubhouse provides student-athletes with direct access to central athletic resources while offering a dedicated space for training, study, and community.
"Today represented an exciting milestone for Pepperdine golf and our athletics community," said Director of Athletics Tanner Gardner. "This clubhouse provides our student-athletes with a first-class home that reflects the championship standard built by our men's and women's golf programs. We are incredibly grateful to the donors and supporters whose generosity made this facility possible and we look forward to seeing the impact it will have for decades to come."
The clubhouse is part of a $13 million investment by Pepperdine University in its nationally recognized golf programs. Pepperdine men's golf has won two NCAA championships, in 1997 and 2021, and 24 conference titles. The women's program has made 27 consecutive NCAA Championship appearances, recorded six top-five national finishes, including a national runner-up finish in 2003, and won 22 conference championships. Together, the programs have produced 40 All-Americans and sent dozens of student-athletes to the professional ranks.

University leadership, coaches, student-athletes, alumni and supporters gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier today to celebrate the opening of the state-of-the-art facility at Firestone Fieldhouse. Held in conjunction with Hubie Smith's annual Labor Day Golf Weekend in Malibu, the event also recognized the donors and supporters whose generosity helped create a new home for Pepperdine Golf.
"Our golfers now have a home on campus," said head men's golf coach Michael Beard. "The new clubhouse offers the resources and tools they need to succeed while building meaningful connections with their teammates in a space right here at Pepperdine. This is going to change the game for us, to be fully integrated with the rest of our athletic community on campus."
In addition to customized team locker rooms, player lounges, coaches offices and meeting spaces, the facility also features four hitting bays, giving student-athletes the ability to train and develop year-round on the Malibu campus for the first time.
Cutting-edge indoor golf performance technology ensures that the golfers receive precise feedback and prepare for peak competition. Highlights include TrackMan iO hitting bays and one of the largest TOURPUTT simulators in the United States, allowing players to refine every aspect of their game year-round.
The new clubhouse also recognizes the generosity of donors, with 10 spaces named in honor of those whose contributions have made a lasting impact on the golf programs. This includes the Bollinger Family Clubhouse Foyer, honoring Catherine and Christopher Bollinger; the Ensio Family Men's Locker Room, honoring Shelle and Mark Ensio; JonJon's Way (main corridor of the clubhouse), honoring Amy and Jono Huddleston; the Denise and Darren Pitts Assistant Coach's Office; the Twanna (MBA '77) and Tim (MBA '77) Rogers Player Development Wing; the Ruud Family Putting Lab, honoring Chantil ('93) and Christopher ('93) Ruud; the 1997 NCAA Men's Golf Championship Team Hitting Bay, honoring Eric Saxvik ('93); the Schwartz Family Assistant Coach's Office, honoring Karen and Jon ('01) Schwartz; the Hubie Smith Players Lounge; plus the Bobby and Tisha Walton Hitting Bay along with the Biggers and Weiss Family Hitting Bay, honoring Deborah ('85) and Gary Weiss and their family.
