SAN BRUNO, Calif. – As announced by the league this morning, Pepperdine cross country seniors Lizzy Crawford and Dominic Silhol have been named the West Coast Conference (WCC) Women's and Men's Runner of the Week, respectively. Both Waves had record-breaking weekends at the UC Riverside Invitational last Saturday.
Crawford ran in the women's 6K, pacing her team with a 20:37.0 finish—good for tenth. In doing so, she set the new program-best by over two seconds, taking down Chelsea Wishard's time of 20:39.05, run at the 2010 NCAA West Regional. Crawford improved on her personal-best by over 15 seconds.
It is the third WCC Runner of the Week award for the Thornton, Colo. native and her second of the 2026 season. She also received the distinction on Sept. 8, 2026 for her 13:17.2 win in the Waves Invitational 4K and on Sept. 19, 2023 for her 25th-place finish at that year's UC Riverside Invitational 6K (21:07.2).
Silhol also showed out in the Inland Empire last weekend, running into a sixth-place finish in the men's 8K (23:38.8). Amongst NCAA athletes, he was the second-fastest, with his early score helping Pepperdine earn a team result of second. His time took down Elijah Gentry's old school record by over 20 seconds.
The Homestead High School alum is the second Wave to win the men's conference honor, joining Jonathan Flint in 2023. So far, he has been the orange and blue's top runner in both races this season.
Pepperdine next runs at the Masters Invitational in Santa Clarita, Calif., Saturday, Oct. 3.
