SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Pepperdine Athletics has secured the 2025-26 West Coast Conference (WCC) Commissioner's Cup and Women's All-Sports Award, announced today by the conference.
In addition, men's tennis senior Maxi Homberg won the men's Mike Gilleran Scholar-Athlete Award and will receive a postgraduate scholarship from the league.
The West Coast Conference Commissioner's Cup is an all-sports award presented at the end of each academic year to the league's top performing school in conference play and is based on a point system, reflecting the finish of each team in conference play. The institution with the highest point total after combining the men's and women's point totals is honored with the Commissioner's Cup. Stretching back to the 2001-02 school year, the Commissioner's Cup has become an annual tradition celebrating West Coast Conference athletic excellence.Â
This marks the fifth time that Pepperdine has secured the Commissioner's Cup, and second time in the past three years. It marks the eighth Women's All-Sports Award as well for the department, having now won in three consecutive years.
Pepperdine claimed conference titles in five different WCC sports throughout the year.Â
Women's soccer, women's golf, men's golf and women's tennis each won their respective WCC Championships while men's and women's tennis also claimed WCC regular season titles.
Women's volleyball claimed a runner-up finish in the league, with men's water polo and beach volleyball finishing third. Women's basketball also posted its best conference record since 2018-19, with baseball seeing its most wins in conference play since 2018.
The Mike Gilleran Scholar-Athlete Award recognizes a male and female graduating student-athlete each year who best exemplifies service & leadership, athletic excellence and academic achievement.
Homberg earned ITA All-American and WCC All-Conference honors throughout his career with the Waves, while graduating this past month with high marks as a business administration major.
Homberg's service to the Malibu community includes volunteering with the Greenline Housing Foundation while participating in service initiatives such as the Red Cross Blood Drive, Student Care Team, Malibu Labor Exchange, and Gratitude Day.
