BERMUDA RUN, N.C. - No. 15 Pepperdine men's golf is off to a solid start at the NCAA Regionals in North Carolina, sitting in second place following the first round on Monday.
The Waves are only two strokes back of No. 3 Virginia, shooting 11-under. Mahanth Chirravuri paced Pepperdine with a five-under performance. He birdied four times on the front nine and continued his momentum onto the back nine, where he sunk another pair of birdies on 14 and 15. Chirravuri sandwiched another birdie around a couple of bogeys, but still carded a 66, solidifying one of his best rounds of the spring and sitting in a tie for first overall.
Carson Kim was just one stroke back of the senior. The Yorba Linda, California native went bogey-free and racked up four birdies to score a 67, good for four-under and a tie for third place overall.
Willy Walsh was close to cracking the top-10 following the opening round. He sat even after the front nine following a trio each of birdies and bogeys. Walsh was consistent on the back nine as well but broke through by drilling an eagle on 17 to help him finish two-under on the afternoon, tying for 12th overall.
Brady Siravo rounded out the Waves' lineup by shooting two-over. He tallied three bogeys and three birdies, but a double-bogey on one to start the day made the difference.

Two birdies on the back nine put him a couple under par until back-to-back bogeys on 16 and 17 put him back even.First round ✅#MakeWaves | @PepperdineWaves pic.twitter.com/H9lKq5rR6c
