SANTA CLARA, Calif. — No. 16 Pepperdine women's tennis (8-3, 3-0 WCC) earned its fourth win in five days with a 7-0 victory at Santa Clara (3-9, 0-1 WCC) Saturday morning from the Degheri Tennis Center.
The Waves moved to 3-0 in West Coast Conference play with the victory, while earning their fifth consecutive win overall.
Pepperdine did not drop a single set in the match with all six singles courts finishing out play, for the Waves' first 7-0 win of the season.
Shihomi Leong and
Duru Söke got the Waves started with a 6-1 doubles victory on court three, improving the tandem to 4-1 on the spring season.
Živa Falkner and
Alexia Harmon clinched the doubles point soon after with a 6-3 win on court two. It marked the first doubles result of the season for the duo together.
Anastasiia Grechkina and
Chantal Sauvant remained unbeaten in doubles on the season, seeing their match at the No. 1 position abandoned while being 4-4.
Moving to singles play,
Liam Oved increased the Pepperdine advantage to 2-0 with a victory on court six while dropping just one game across two sets. It marked Oved's first singles win of the season as she defeated Jamie Pope 6-0, 6-1.
Söke then kept her unblemished season in singles going with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Tian Yu Dong on court three. Söke improved to 6-0 on the season in singles and put the Waves in command with a 3-0 lead in the match.
Grechkina then clinched the victory for the Waves on court one, defeating Daniella Dimitrova 6-3, 6-1. Grechkina is now 3-3 on the season as the win marked her first victory at the No. 1 position this campaign.
Harmon then won her sixth straight singles match to bring the scoreline to 5-0 as Pepperdine picked up another win on court four. Harmon is now 8-2 on the season as she took down Anna Rahman by a 6-4, 6-0 mark.
Shihomi Leong earned her second singles win of the season next on court five, bringing the score to 6-0. Leong topped Madhu Satishbabu 6-1, 6-4.
Securing the 7-0 win was Sauvant on court two, defeating Lizanne Boyer 6-4, 6-4. Sauvant's win marked her fifth of the season, the fourth Wave to reach five singles wins so far.
Pepperdine is now 22-0 all-time against Santa Clara with today's victory.

Pepperdine women's tennis has been a consistent powerhouse in the collegiate scene, reaching 40 NCAA Tournaments since 1982 including 28 straight appearances.
