NEW HAVEN, Conn. — No. 27 Pepperdine men's tennis (7-5) picked up a 4-2 road victory at No. 39 Yale (9-5) Wednesday afternoon in New Haven.

David Fix clinched the match with him and Maxi Homberg prevailing in their respective third sets. Lasse Poertner continued his dominant stretch with a singles win as well after the Waves claimed the doubles point.

Battling against the 22nd-ranked doubles tandem in the country, Poertner and Aleksa Pisaric picked up a key 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles to get the Waves started.

Hugh Winter and Gustavo Ribeiro de Almeida then gave Pepperdine the doubles point with a 6-3 win on court three.

Fix and Homberg were ahead 5-3 on court two when their doubles bout was abandoned.

Poertner cruised to a 6-1, 6-4 win on court two to put the Waves ahead by a 2-0 margin. Poertner is now 7-3 on the dual match campaign and has won four straight singles matches.

The Bulldogs fought back with wins on courts one and four, as all matches besides those on one and two had gone to a third set.

Homberg secured his victory on three in the third set, putting the Waves back ahead 3-2. Homberg won the first set 6-3, before falling in a second set tiebreak before rebounding with a 6-4 triumph in the third.

Fix clinched the match soon after on court six for the Waves, posting an eventual (6-4, 4-6, 6-2) victory to give the Waves their fifth top-40 victory of the season.

Almeida was ahead 4-1 in his third set when the match was abandoned, having won a second set tiebreak after dropping the first set.
