MALIBU, Calif. - No. 24 Pepperdine men's tennis earned another pair of West Coast Conference (WCC) weekly awards, as announced today by the conference.
Gustavo Ribeiro de Almeida earned Freshman of the Week honors, while
Lasse Poertner and
Aleksa Pisaric claimed Doubles Team of the Week.
Poertner and Pisaric teamed up to take down Stanford's Jagger Leach and Alex Chang (6-3), helping the Waves win the doubles point and secure a 4-0 victory over the No. 4-ranked Cardinals last Friday. The duo then turned around and defeated UCLA's Aadarsh Tripathi and Spencer Johnson on Saturday by a final of 6-3.
Almeida was part of a doubles team with
Maxi Homberg that handled business against Stanford's Alexander Razeghi and Mark Krupkin by a final of 6-2. Almeida also defeated UCLA's Tripathi in a pair of sets on Saturday (7-5, 6-4) to get the Waves on the board.
