Grechkina Earns Four Ranked Wins at ITA Women's Tennis All-American Championships

CARY, N.C. — Pepperdine women's tennis wrapped up competition at the ITA All-American Championships as Anastasiia Grechkina earned wins over four ranked opponents while advancing to the consolation singles semifinals.

Grechkina earned a win in the main draw before falling in the round of 32, placing her in the consolation bracket.

She went on to defeat a pair of top-50 opponents on Friday to advance into the Round of 16, including a victory over No. 25 Kate Fakih of UCLA. On Saturday, Grechkina tabbed two more ranked wins to reach the consolation semifinals, putting her one win away from an automatic qualification into the NCAA Singles Championships.

Grechkina dropped the first set in the semifinals, before battling back to win the second as the third set then went to a tiebreak. Falling behind 5-1 in the tiebreak, Grechkina continued to fight, eventually making it 6-6 before being bested by an 8-6 mark.

"I'm so proud of Nastia and the amazing couple of weeks that she's had," said head coach Tassilo Schmid. "She's shown tremendous growth on the court, not just in her game, but in her mindset and presence. She's proving she can compete at the highest level in college tennis and I am looking forward to her next training block."

Grechkina and Alexia Harmon also competed in the doubles main draw, falling in the round of 32 while Harmon bowed out in the qualifying round for singles earlier in the week.
