FULLERTON, Calif. – After kicking off their season at home, the Pepperdine Cross Country team travels east for the Biola Invitational Friday, Sept. 12.
The race will take place at Ted Craig Regional Park, a tranquil public park situated eight miles from the host campus. Parking will be five dollars on the day of the event.
The women will lead-off the event, beginning with a 5K at 8:45 a.m.
The men follow at 9:30 a.m. with an 8K.
Most of the Waves competition will be local schools like Azusa Pacific, Biola, Concordia, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State Monterey Bay, East Los Angeles College, The Master's, Orange Coast College, Point Loma, Soka University of America, and Westmont. Grand Canyon and Southern Nevada will make the journey from out-of-state, while Simon Fraser travels down from British Columbia, Canada.
Pepperdine's racers will also square off against members of Valor Track Club, a community running club from Orange County, Calif.
Live Results will be uploaded upon completion to the Biola website and TFRRS.
The race marks the second of the season for the Waves, having hosted the Waves Invite at the end of August.
Lizzy Crawford spearheaded the charge for the Waves at the lone home race of the season. She crossed the 4K finish line first (13:09.1) en route to a team fourth-place finish.
Elijah Gentry (17:54.2) and Gordy Nilsen (18:09.1) respectively took second and third place in the 6K. The men's team finished first in the standings.
ABOUT PEPPERDINE CROSS COUNTRY/TRACK
The Pepperdine cross country/track program has a rich history dating back to the 1950s with six total individual national championships to come through the program. As one of the original three programs sponsored by then George Pepperdine College in 1937, the Waves immediately began to make a mark on the track world stage with eight total Olympians and multiple regional champions throughout the program's history.
