MALIBU, Calif. — Pepperdine women's tennis sophomore Vivian Yang earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.
To be considered for the award, players must maintain a 3.50 grade point average or better while competing in over 50% of the team's scheduled dual matches. This is Yang's second academic award of the season; earlier this spring, she made the All-West Coast Conference Academic Team.
A double major in English and philosophy, Yang maintained a 3.96 grade point average while competing throughout the fall and spring seasons. On the court, Yang moved up to the first position in Pepperdine's singles lineup and earned first-team All-WCC singles honors for the first time in her career. This past fall, the sophomore from Auckland, New Zealand qualified for the NCAA Doubles Championship while maintaining a 4.0 grade point average during that semester.
Yang is also a finalist for the CSC Academic All-American Team, which will be announced on June 3 at 9 a.m. PT.
This season, Yang and the Waves went 15-12, won the WCC Tournament title and made the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
