MALIBU, Calif.  —  Playing at home on senior day, the Pepperdine beach volleyball team collected two sweeps on the final day of the regular season on Saturday.
 
In the morning, the Waves (17-13) picked up a 4-0 sweep over Hope International (7-18) before sweeping Oregon (8-18) 5-0 in the afternoon.
 
Five Waves' seniors - Kate Clermont, Ella Foti, Marley Johnson, Madie Oriskovich and McKenna Thomas were honored after the matches today.
 
HOPE INTERNATIONAL RECAP
Playing only courts one through four against the Royals, the Waves took a 2-0 advantage after the first flight thanks to sweeps on courts two and four.  Madison Oriskovich (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Gabriella Perez (Loomis, Calif.) won court two 21-11, 21-12, while Emi Erickson (Honolulu, Hawaii) and Marley Johnson (Stuart, Fla.) were victorious 21-11, 21-9 in position No. 4.
 
Emma Eden (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Ella Foti (Madison, Wis.) then clinched the duel for the Waves with a dominant 21-10, 21-7 win on court three, and Kate Clermont (Burlington, Ontario, Canada) and McKenna Thomas (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) completed the 4-0 sweep with a 21-19, 21-17 win in slot No. 1.
 
OREGON RECAP
Erickson and Johnson gave the Waves an early 1-0 lead with their second sweep of the day on court four (21-13, 21-14). Oriskovich and Perez then put Pepperdine up 2-0 after the first flight with their second win of the day, grinding out a 21-19, 21-18 victory.
 
Eden and Foti came out swinging and clinched the second duel of the day for the Waves as they gutted out a 22-20 first set win before cruising to a 21-12 victory in the second set to take court three and put Pepperdine up 3-0. Emma Bubelis (Northbrook, Ill.) and Deanie Woodruff (Point Loma, Calif.) earned a 21-18, 21-18 straight-set win on court five to give the Waves another point.
 
Looking to complete the second sweep of the day, Clermont and Thomas dropped their first set 15-21, however, the Waves No. 1 pair battled back and won the next two sets 21-16, 15-10 to complete the sweep on their senior day.

UP NEXT
Next weekend, the Waves will stay close to home by competing in Santa Monica, Calif. in the West Coast Conference Championships. The first matches are set to begin on Thursday, with the championship slated for Friday afternoon.
