MALIBU, Calif.  —  The Pepperdine beach volleyball team (13-13) finished the Waves Tourney with a hard-fought 2-3 loss to UC Davis (16-11) on Saturday morning.
 
RECAP
The Aggies took a 1-0 lead with a two-set win on court four (21-10, 21-16). However, Madison Oriskovich (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Gabriella Perez (Loomis, Calif.) earned their third victory of the weekend with a quick 21-12, 21-13 sweep on court two to tie the duel at 1-all after the first flight. 
 
UC Davis then regained the lead (2-1) with a straight-set victory on court five, 21-15, 21-16. In position No. 1, Kate Clermont (Burlington, Ontario, Canada) and McKenna Thomas (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) dropped their first set 18-21, but forced a third with a dominant 21-14 win in the second. The Waves duo jumped out to an early lead in the final set and cruised to a 15-11 win to tie the duel 2-2.
 
With the match coming down to court three, Emma Eden (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Ella Foti (Madison, Wis.) were in a third and all-deciding set after splitting their first two 19-21, 21-14. Despite Eden and Foti forcing a third set, the Aggies duo came out and won the final set 15-10 to clinch the court and take the victory over the Waves.

UP NEXT
The Waves will remain in Malibu for the final weekend of the regular season on April 18-19. Pepperdine will take on Hope International and Oregon on Friday and Saturday for a total of four home games next weekend. Saturday, April 19 will be senior day, and five Waves will be honored after the Waves last game.
