SAN DIEGO, Calif.- The Pepperdine baseball team was kept off the board for the first time all season, dropping the second of the three game series in seven innings to San Diego.
Â
The Toreros (5-21, 2-3) jumped in front with a four-run inning in the third and the Waves (6-20, 2-3) were never able to string multiple hits together in an inning to score, losing 10-0 Saturday night.

BIG WAVES
Â
Redshirt sophomore
Max Bernal (Clovis, Calif.) had one hit on the evening with a team-high nine putouts with no errors.
Â
Graduate outfielder
Nick Upstill (Huntington Beach, Calif.) also had a hit tonight, boasting the highest batting average in tonight's lineup with .323.
Â
RECAP
Â
With no runs scored in the first two innings on either side, graduate RHP
Matthew Boyer (Edwardsville, Ill.) recorded the first six outs with just 20 pitches. San Diego broke it open in the third inning, scoring four on two hits as two Toreros were walked and two were hit by a pitch.
Â
No response from the Waves through the following two innings gave the Toreros the opportunity to double the Pepperdine deficit in the sixth inning. Four more added runs gave San Diego a 8-0 lead headed to the seventh inning. The struggle on offense by Pepperdine was capped off with a three-up, three-down top of the seventh and with two scored in the latter half of the inning by San Diego, the game would end after seven with a final score of 10-0 in favor of the home team.
