MALIBU, Calif. – Head Coach
Scott Wong and the returning West Coast Conference Champions, the Pepperdine women's volleyball team, have announced the 2024 schedule, which will feature 15 home matches in another aggressive non-conference slate this season.
Â
"Our staff put together one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the nation this year," said Wong. "We're looking forward to facing that challenge head on in preparation to compete for another West Coast Conference title.
Â
"That, as well as a healthy mix of talented top returners and skilled newcomers, will put us in the mix for a strong run in the NCAA Tournament."
Â
Pepperdine will face non-conference opponents in 10 matches during the early season push and eight of those matches will be against teams that competed in the NCAA Championships last season, including semifinalist Pitt and quarterfinalist Stanford.
Â
The WCC slate will hold 18 matches this season, adding a pair of matches against affiliates Washington State – a team that reached the third round of the national tournament last season – and Oregon State. The Waves will only face Gonzaga and Portland once this season, but will compete against all other conference teams twice.
Â
The Waves will have 28 matches in total, including 13 road or neutral contests in addition to the home docket. Ten of those matches will be against the seven teams that competed in the NCAA Championships in 2024, including one that reached the Final Four, one that finished in the Elite Eight, one in the third round and two that reached the second round.  Five teams were ranked in the AVCA final rankings, including #4 Pitt, #5 Stanford, #11 Washington State, #24 USC and Hawai'i, a team that was receiving votes. The Waves will face the Cougars, Trojans and Rainbow Wahine twice.
Â
The Waves home matches will once again be played in Firestone Fieldhouse and fans will be able to watch live on ESPN+ throughout the season.
Â
Pepperdine will kick off the campaign with a pair of matches at home against Southern California (Aug. 30-31) before hopping on a plane to face Hawai'i (Sep. 6-7). After facing Stanford (Sep. 11) for a solo match, the Waves will host the ASICS Classic (Sep. 13-15) and then trek down south for a tournament at Long Beach State (Sep. 20-21), facing Washington and LBSU.
Â
The Waves will begin WCC action on the road in Corvallis, Ore. against affiliate member Oregon State (Sep. 26). Other road contests include Gonzaga (Oct. 3), Washington State (Oct. 5), LMU (Oct. 12), San Francisco (Oct. 24), Santa Clara (Oct. 26), San Diego (Nov. 9), Saint Mary's (Nov. 21) and Pacific (Nov. 23).Â
