Meg Brown of the Pepperdine women's volleyball team, has earned a spot on the U.S. Women's Volleyball Collegiate National Team, as Team USA announced this week.
Â
The Collegiate Team will train June 18-24 in Anaheim, Calif., alongside the U.S. Women's National Team as it prepares for the final preliminary round of Volleyball Nations League.
Â
In addition to Brown,
Grace Chillingworth and
Emily Hellmuth were tabbed as alternates. Two others from the West Coast Conference were named to the collegiate national team – both from BYU. Among the alternates with the pair of Waves, two from San Diego and one-apiece from LMU and BYU were also named alternates.
Â
Brown (Santa Ana, Calif.) has been a mainstay on the court for the Waves since donning the blue and orange three seasons ago, earning All-WCC accolades in each of her three seasons including first team nods as a freshman and junior.Â
Â
This past season, the middle blocker put in a stellar performance for Pepperdine, marking a well-rounded effort after tabbing 2.82 kills/set on a team-best .367 hitting percentage. She also was good for 0.91 blocks, 0.29 aces and 0.87 digs per set for the squad, leading the team with 385.5 points in total.
Â
Hellmuth and Chillingworth, the 2023 and 2022 WCC Freshmen of the Year respectively, led the Waves' attack efforts this season. Hellmuth amassed a team-high 2.90 kills/set, while Chillingworth led the squad with 0.37 aces/set and totaled 2.89 kills/set.
