MALIBU, California – After sweeping a doubleheader on Saturday, the Pepperdine men's tennis program has also swept the weekly West Coast Conference awards for the second time this season.
#62
Daniel De Jonge was named the singles player of the week, while he and
Tim Zeitvogel were honored as the doubles team of the week.
De Jonge (Vlissingen, Netherlands) dominated a pair of opponents on Saturday, winning both of his matches while only dropping six total games in the process to help the Waves defeat both LMU and #28 Cal. With the 6-4, 6-1 win over Cal's #120 Ryder Jackson, De Jonge has now won two ranked matchups this year.
#58 De Jonge and Zeitvogel (Baden-Baden, Germany) won a pair of matches as a doubles tandem over the weekend, helping Pepperdine secure both doubles points against LMU and Cal with 6-3 wins over both LMU's Austin Di Giulio and John Bryan Otico and Cal's Siddhant Banthia and Carl Emil Overbeck. The pair is now 6-4 together this dual season.
This is the sixth career weekly honor in singles for De Jonge and third this season after being named the league's singles player of the week on February 14 and March 7. This is the third weekly doubles award for De Jonge and Zeitvogel, who were previously honored on February 14 and February 28.
Pepperdine stays home this weekend, hosting Pacific on Friday, March 31 at 2 p.m.
