MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's tennis program erased a 2-0 deficit with big performances in singles to post a 4-3 win over Oklahoma State on Thursday afternoon at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center.
Oklahoma State (11-5) took control early in doubles, posting a 6-2 win on the top court. Soon after, the Cowboys' court two duo also won, 6-4, to grab the early lead heading into singles.
Pepperdine (6-6) took the necessary four first sets in singles after dropping the doubles point. OSU countered with the first singles win, taking court three in straight sets to double their lead.
Pietro Fellin (Milan, Italy) gave the Waves their first point of the day with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court four over Francisco Pini.
Maxi Homberg (Freising, Germany) tied the match at two apiece with a 6-4, 7-5 victory on court five over Alessio Basile.
With three courts remaining,
Tim Zeitvogel (Baden-Baden, Germany) earned a critical 6-2, 7-5 win on court two over Chase Ferguson to draw the Waves within one point of a victory. To clinch the match, #65
Daniel De Jonge (Vlissingen, Netherlands) rallied to claim a 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Tyler Zink on the top court.
Pepperdine defaulted the final court to end the afternoon, giving OSU a win on court six.
