TULSA, Oklahoma – A late change of location didn't matter to the Pepperdine men's tennis program as the Waves won their second consecutive match, defeating Tulsa 4-1 at the Case Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Pepperdine (3-5) took command in doubles early, as court two's duo of
Maxi Homberg (Freising, Germany) and
Eero Vasa (Turku, Finland) won 6-1 to open the scoring. #36
Daniel De Jonge (Vlissingen, Netherlands) and
Tim Zeitvogel (Baden-Baden, Germany) clinched the doubles point for the Waves with a top-50, 6-4 win on the main court to give Pepperdine an important 1-0 lead heading into singles.
The Waves kept Tulsa (5-4) at bay in the early portion of singles, taking four of six first sets. However, it was the Golden Hurricane who struck first with a win on court four to even the match. Pepperdine responded, though, as
Pietro Fellin (Milan, Italy) defeated Daniel Siddall 6-1, 6-3 on court six and Vasa took down Callum Gale 7-5, 6-2 on court three to open up a 3-1 lead.
To close out the match, Homberg won a 7-5, 6-0 decision on court five over Ezequiel Santall to wrap up the victory for Pepperdine.
