MALIBU, California – Following impressive performances at the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, sophomore Savannah Broadus of the #8 Pepperdine women's tennis program has been named the West Coast Conference singles player of the week, while she and Janice Tjen have been named the league's doubles team of the week.
 
#16 Broadus (Carrollton, Texas) was dominant and won all three of her matchups over the weekend against top-15 teams, highlighted by a 7-5, 6-3 straight-set win over #12 Abby Forbes of North Carolina and another top-100 win on Sunday over Auburn's #95 Kaitlyn Carnicella, 6-3, 6-0. On Saturday, her 6-4, 6-3 victory over Sara Ziodato helped Pepperdine to a ranked win over #7 Virginia. Playing exclusively from the third position in a loaded Pepperdine lineup, the sophomore has started the dual season a perfect 4-0 for the Waves.
 
After dropping their opening match of the weekend to a top-35 duo from #2 North Carolina, #4 Broadus and Tjen (Jakarta, Indonesia) responded with a pair of wins on Saturday and Sunday over #7 Virginia and #13 Auburn. In Sunday's match against Auburn, the reigning ITA All-Americans shut out the #8 doubles team in the country from Auburn 6-0. The pair is now 4-1 this dual season together.

This is the first career weekly award in singles for Broadus, the 2022 WCC Freshman of the Year, and the fourth weekly doubles award for the pair dating back to last year. The Waves swept the WCC weekly awards on January 15, as Lisa Zaar was named the singles player of the week while Broadus and Tjen were recognized as the doubles team of the week.
 
Pepperdine returns to action on Friday, February 24 when the Waves visit Florida. First serve is at 2 p.m. PT.
