Waves Sweep Weekly WCC Awards

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's tennis program took both weekly West Coast Conference awards this week as Daniel De Jonge was named the singles player of the week while he and Tim Zeitvogel were named the league's doubles team of the week.

#38 De Jonge (Vlissingen, Netherlands) and Zeitvogel (Baden-Baden, Germany) recorded a 6-3 win over #7 Texas' Harper and Spizzirri, the #4 doubles team in the country, in the Waves' match against the Longhorns last Friday. The win helped Pepperdine secure the doubles point. The pair improved to 3-2 on the dual season as a doubles team.

#104 De Jonge earned his first singles win of the dual season in the same match, taking down #33 Pierre-Yves Bailly 7-6 (6), 7-5 in a top-35 win for the graduate student.

This is the first career weekly doubles award for the tandem and the fourth weekly singles honor of De Jonge's career. These are the first weekly awards of the 2023 season for Pepperdine.

The Waves host UC Santa Barbara in their home opener on Sunday, February 19 at 2 p.m.
