MALIBU, Calif. — Grace Chillingworth and Riley Patterson of the Pepperdine women's volleyball team, swept the West Coast Conference offensive and defensive player of the week honors this week after leading the Waves to three wins in the 24th-annual Pepperdine Asics Classic. It is the first honor of its kind for each of their careers at Pepperdine.
Â
Pepperdine had upset #9 Baylor in four sets, while also defeating UC Santa Barbara in four and San Diego State in three in Firestone Fieldhouse last weekend. The Waves have had a 5-1 open to the 2022 campaign.Â

She followed that up with another big performance against the Gauchos, posting nine kills, 11 digs, three blocks and two aces for 12.5 points. That wouldn't be all for the sophomore either, as she tied the team-high 11 kills against SDSU on the final day of competition, posting a .276 success rate on the attack and adding seven digs, three blocks and another pair of aces for 14.5 total points.
Â
Riley Patterson anchored the back row for Pepperdine, amassing 4.45 digs/set and 1.36 assists/set. She posted 49 digs and 15 assists throughout the effort, while adding an ace and kill as well in her 11 sets of action.
