Felkins Receives WCC Postgraduate Scholarship

MALIBU, California – Jackson Felkins of the Pepperdine men's cross country and track team is the male recipient of the 2022 West Coast Conference postgraduate scholarship, the league office announced on Wednesday evening at its annual awards dinner. The total amount of the one-time grant is $10,000.

Felkins, a Southlake, Texas native, has excelled both on and off the track during his time in Malibu. He was Pepperdine's top finisher three times in his cross country career as well as finishing top three in nine out of 13 races competed in. Felkins is currently the school-record holder in the men's 8K collecting a time of 24:01.1 at the Bronco Invitational this past season. He also has the second-fastest time in program history in the men's 10K in a time of 30:43.2, which he set at the 2018 NCAA West Regional as a freshman.

During the track season, Felkins previously held the school record in the 10,000 meters that he set in 2019 in a time of 30:51.48, which now ranks second all-time. He also has marked his name second on the Pepperdine all-time list in the men's 3,000 meters in a time of 8:28.95. Additionally, Felkins is in the top-10 fastest times in the men's 5,000 meters at Pepperdine collecting a time of 14:53.01, which is good for seventh all-time.

This past spring, Felkins graduated with a bachelor's degree in philosophy with a cumulative grade point average of 3.95. He is a four-time Pepperdine Scholar Athlete as well as three-time WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll "gold" honors. In 2019 Felkins was named to the WCC All-Academic first team. Felkins is also a four-time recipient of the Regents' Scholarship and a two-time Blanche E. Seaver Faculty-Staff Scholarship.

In the fall of 2022, Felkins will trek out to the East Coast to pursue a master's degree in bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, Felkins will be working as a clinical research assistant in the School of Nursing at the University.Â

Felkins is the fourth Wave to receive a WCC postgraduate scholarship, following Keith Jarbo (2006), Richard Johnson (2007) and Hannah Frohling (2020).
