Women's Tennis Earns #8 National Seed, Will Host First and Second Rounds of NCAA Tournament

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine women's tennis program has claimed a coveted top-8 national seed in the NCAA Tournament, and the Waves will welcome USC, San Diego State and Denver to Malibu this weekend for the first and second rounds.

Should the eighth-seeded Waves advance through this weekend, they would host a Super Regional on Friday, May 13 against the winner of the Miami (Fla.) regional.

Play will begin Friday, with the USC/San Diego State match starting at 10:00 a.m. First serve for Pepperdine's match against Denver is at 1:00 p.m. The winners will meet Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

On Saturday, Pepperdine won its eighth consecutive West Coast Conference Tournament title and will be making its 37th trip to the national tournament. Last season, Pepperdine advanced to the NCAA national championship match before falling to Texas, 4-3.

This is the 10th time overall and the sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament that Pepperdine has hosted the early rounds.
