Men's Tennis Tabbed First in Preseason Poll

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's tennis program was chosen to win the West Coast Conference in its preseason poll, as announced by the league on Monday.

The Waves received more recognition by the league as Daniel De Jonge, Pietro Fellin and Tim Zeitvogel were chosen for the WCC Men's Tennis Preseason Team.

De Jonge (Vlissingen, Netherlands), ranked 13th nationally in singles by the ITA, was an All-WCC second-team honoree in singles last season. This season, playing from the one position, he has a record of 5-3.

Fellin (Milan, Italy), ranked 49th by the ITA, has burst onto the season as a sophomore after advancing to the championship of the ITA Southwest Regional in the fall. He has a dual record of 3-6 this spring playing from the second and third positions.

Zeitvogel (Baden-Baden, Germany), the #111 ranked singles player in the country, was All-WCC honorable mention in singles in both 2019 and 2021 and was honorable mention in doubles in 2021 as well. Zeitvogel is 5-2 in the young dual season, competing at the second, third and fourth spots.

Pepperdine won the WCC's regular season title in 2021, its first since 2013.

Pepperdine will head to La Jolla, Calif., for a dual matchup with Nebraska on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. and the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship, which runs Thursday-Sunday. Draws and times are to be determined.
