Waves Begin 2022-23 Campaign With Pair of Home Meets

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine women's swim and dive program begins its quest to defend its 2022 Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference championship with a home dual meet and the second annual Rodionoff Invitational this upcoming weekend.

Meet 1: Thursday (October 6) at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu, Calif.: Pepperdine vs. San Diego State at 10 a.m.

Meet 2: Friday and Saturday (October 7-8) at Raleigh Runnels Memorial Pool in Malibu, Calif.: Rodionoff Invitational at 10 a.m. (Fri.) and 9 a.m. (Sat.)

The Waves will be led by 12 returning All-PCSC first team performers from a year ago: Lexie Martin (Keller, Texas/Keller HS), Bri Cannon (Katy, Texas/Katy HS), Anna Johnson (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme HS), Emma Purdy (Truckee, Calif./Truckee HS), Alexandra Browne (Arlington, Va./Washington-Liberty HS), Lindsay Hemming (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte HS), Ellie Hendren (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Mountain Vista HS), Tay Thomas (Pleasant Hill, Calif./College Park HS), Jenna Sanchez (Highland, Calif./Redlands East Valley HS), Paige Tattersall (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS), Lexie Deitemeyer (Golden, Colo./Golden HS) and Jessica Calderoni (Los Altos, Calif./Sacred Heart Preparatory).

Diving starts at 10 a.m. on Friday morning for the Rodionoff Invite, while swimming takes place at 11:30 a.m. On Saturday, diving will start at 9 a.m. while swimming commences at 10:30 a.m.

Live streaming of the event will be available on the WCC Network. Links will be provided on PepperdineWaves.com. Admission to the event is free. Because of limited bleacher seating, fans may choose to bring a blanket or chair to sit on the hillside. Fans can park in the Firestone Fieldhouse lot. Parking is limited, so plan to arrive early.

Teams competing with the Waves at the Division I level in the Rodionoff Invitational include WCC foes Loyola Marymount and San Diego. Non-DI programs also making the trip to Malibu include Concordia University Irvine, Azusa Pacific, Biola, Cal Lutheran, Westmont and The Master's.

Pepperdine claimed its first-ever PCSC team championship last February. Head Coach Ellie Monobe was named the PCSC Coach of the Championship Meet for the second consecutive season. She and the Waves bring back 14 returners from the championship squad while adding 15 newcomers – 10 swimmers and four divers.
