SAN JOSE, California – The Pepperdine women's swim and dive program opened up the road portion of its season on Friday, falling to San Jose State at the SRAC Pool.

MEET RECAP

For the third time this season, Lexi Haymart (El Dorado Hills, Calif./Ponderosa HS) won the 1000 free, defeating the field with a 10:39.71 time, which was good enough to improve her standing to eighth place on the all-time list at Pepperdine. Haymart also took second in the 500 free with a time of 5:13.63.

Fellow freshman Kylie Taylor (Eugene, Ore./Churchill HS) took second in the 200 back with a 2:08.58 showing. In the 3-meter diving, reigning Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference diver of the week Amanda Wong (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill HS) took second with a score of 252.23.

To round out the meet, the Waves' 200 free relay team of Alexandra Browne (Arlington, Va./Washington-Liberty HS), Haymart, Lexi Fok (Moraga, Calif./Campolindo HS) and Anna Ryan (Alamo, Calif./Monte Vista HS) placed second with a time of 1:39.02.

Pepperdine recorded seven third-place finishes in the dual.

The team totals ended in favor of SJSU, 148-78.

QUOTABLE

Head coach Ellie Monobe said: "I think we had a solid performance against a very talented SJSU program. After having five meets in a two-week period, our group is tired and yet we are having very consistent performances. Freshman Lexi Haymart had the race of the day winning the individual title in the 1000 free."
