MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's tennis team grabbed two spots on the ITA Division I preseason rankings that were announced this morning.
Daniel De Jonge (Vlissingen, Netherlands), a senior, enters the 2021-22 campaign ranked #117 in the men's singles rankings. De Jonge was named the ITA Regional Rookie of the Year in 2020 while going undefeated in dual doubles with partner
Adrian Oetzbach. He also went 6-2 from the #1 singles position.
Tim Zeitvogel (Baden-Baden, Germany), a senior, comes in at #125 in the men's singles rankings. He prepares for his final season in Malibu after going unbeaten as a junior and having not lost a singles match since March 20, 2019. Zeitvogel was named All-WCC singles honorable mention in 2019 while going undefeated in WCC regular season play.
Selections for the ITA All-American Championships, held October 2-10 at the University of Tulsa, were announced yesterday. De Jonge earned a spot in the singles qualifying round, while Zeitvogel is a qualifying singles alternate and will compete in the prequalifying singles. Other Waves who earned a spot in the prequalifying singles include

Eric Hadigian, and
Corrado Summaria. Additionally,
Enrique Luque Rico is an alternate for the prequalifying singles round, while the doubles combinations of Zeitvogel/Rogers and De Jonge/Halldin will participate in the qualifying doubles round.
The Waves enter the upcoming season as the defending West Coast Conference champions. They defeated UCSB in the first round of the NCAA Championships before falling to USC, ending their season at 16-7. The fall schedule gets underway this weekend with the Knoxville Showdown at the University of Tennessee from September 10-12.
