Men's Tennis Advances to NCAA Second Round

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The 28th-ranked Pepperdine men's tennis team delivered a 4-1 win over UC Santa Barbara on Friday afternoon to propel the Waves into the second round where they will face the #8 USC Trojans.

Junior Corrado Summaria played the clincher, going 3-6, 7-6(2), 6-0 to end it for Pepperdine.

Starting off the first round in doubles, the Waves saw some pushback from the Gauchos early, as court three fell 2-6. The 77th-ranked pair of Adrian Oetzbach and Guy Den Ouden saw little resistance, however, going 6-1 on court one, putting all the pressure on court two.

Corrado Summaria and Tim Zeitvogel clinched the doubles point for Pepperdine at 6-2 on court two to put the Waves up 1-0 heading into singles.

First to the finish in singles play was Pietro Fellin on court six, as the Wave won 6-2, 7-5 for the 2-0 overall lead. Zeitvogel followed suit, winning his eighth-straight match this dual season in tie-breaking fashion at 6-3, 7-6(4) on court four.

After a stumble on court one, Summaria swooped in to put the Gauchos to rest, winning on court five for the 4-1 overall final score.
