SAN MATEO, Calif. – Guy Den Ouden of the Pepperdine men's tennis team earned his first West Coast Conference Singles Player of the Week award, the league announced on Tuesday.
Den Ouden (
Netherlands/Luzac College) went undefeated last weekend, accruing wins over #48 SMU's Liam Krall on court three at 6-3, 6-0 and going 6-1, 6-1 over #34 Wichita State's Marius Frosa on court two.
The freshman is currently riding a six-match singles win streak, where his last loss came against then-#47 Luc Fomba of then-#5 TCU where the first two sets went into tie-breakers and the third set needed an extra game.
Overall in singles, Den Ouden stands 10-3, having completed every singles match he has participated in. One of those wins was earned over then-#61 Dominik Kellovsky of then-#14 Oklahoma State to help the Waves upset the Cowboys 5-2.
UP NEXT
The team will remain in Malibu to invite the likes of conference foes Saint Mary's and LMU to Ralphs-Straus, taking on the former on Friday and the latter on Sunday.
