MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's tennis program had not one, but two finalists in the ITA Southwest Regional Championships held at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center on Tuesday, with Andrew Rogers claiming a three-set win over Pietro Fellin in the title match.
Rogers (Brentwood, Tenn.) only dropped three sets in six matches. Fellin (Milan, Italy) only lost two sets in the six matches leading up to the championship.
As the last two standing at the regional, both have earned berths in the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego from November 4-7.

Head Coach Adam Schaechterle said: "It's been a competitive group within our own squad. Practices have been really intense even from the start of August. My feeling this morning was that we probably had eight guys that could have made it to the finals. For the spring, that means we're going to be deep and I'm going to have a hard time choosing the six that are going to be rolling out there for matches but it's a good problem to have."
Andrew Rogers said: "Honestly, it all started in the preparation with the week before and the practices that I had with the coaches and also with the team. We had some of the best team practices that we've had going into this tournament, so I would've been more surprised if one of us didn't win it because of the level of our practices and how everyone was pushing each other. At the end of the day, we took care of the preparation before the tournament, so I give a lot of credit to the coaches and the guys for helping me get ready for it."
